Weekly Gospel Illustration Program
|
The Gospel Illustration Program is a weekly exploration of visual art and the Word of God, provoking communication among us to learn and share the Lord's message. Recently, I began a personal journey with my art by illustrating the weekly readings. Being active with the Art and Environment ministry in my parish family, we decided to publish the "Good News" illustration on the front cover of the weekly bulletin. |

My hope is that the visual Word would linger in household environments throughout the following week, along with the hymns we hum and the sermons that we recall as we live our lives. I will electronically send you the weekly reading and Gospel Illustration to print, frame and display in your gathering space at the main entrance of the church, for all to see, as the assembly enters for your Eucharistic celebration. The music minister's choices are inspirational to my drawings. The composers and I are on the same path as artists. Because I submit the drawing two weeks in advance, the liturgist may use the piece to reinforce key points in the Homily.
Besides the bulletin and narthex before mass, they could also be used for a bible study discussion or fund raising programs. To participate simply e-mail me and I will send your faith community my drawings weekly. |

I would like to talk to you about this and more ideas of how we can engage our faith communities, young and old into God's Love for us, with the arts.
